A US woman had been fined for having dried out grass during a drought.
Lori Worthman, of Denver, has been handed the $200 penalty by her homeowner’s association after they noticed the brown spots in her yard, despite the city declaring a Stage One drought and issuing water restrictions.
Lori claims she has been trying to get her grass to grow, adding: ”I’m glad to try to reseed again when it cools off, but we’re in the middle of a heat wave.”
James Tanner, president of the Homeowner’s Association, says Lori was warned about the state of her grass last year and given a nine-month extension to fix the problem.
He explained: ”We would much rather have her fix the problem than collect the fine.
”If your house looks like trash then it’s going to depreciate the value of everything around you. That’s what an HOA is for is to establish and maintain property values.”
